Fire suppression systems are designed to detect and suppress fires quickly, but additional safety features can provide even greater protection for operators, machinery and equipment. These optional features improve system control, reduce fire spread and ensure operators are immediately alerted in the event of an incident.

Fireward’s fire suppression systems can be equipped with a range of additional safety features to support safer operation across industries including waste and recycling, construction, forestry, quarrying and transport.

The video below explains how each fire suppression system extra feature works for a vehiclemobile plant and agricultural machinery fire suppression system, and the role it plays in improving fire protection.

In-Cab Monitor

An In-Cab Monitor provides operators with instant system status updates from inside the machine cab. The monitor alerts the operator if the fire suppression system detects a fire, activates or develops a fault.

This allows operators to respond quickly while also confirming the system is fully operational before machinery begins work.

Benefits of an In-Cab Monitor:

  • Real-time fire suppression system status

  • Instant warning alerts in the event of activation

  • Fault monitoring for improved system reliability

  • Improved operator awareness and safety

Manual Actuator

A Manual Actuator allows the operator to manually discharge the fire suppression system in an emergency situation.

While fire suppression systems automatically activate when a fire is detected, manual activation gives operators additional control if they identify a fire before the pneumatic detection system activates.

Benefits of a Manual Actuator:

  • Allows immediate manual system activation

  • Provides additional operator control during emergencies

  • Supports faster fire suppression response

  • Can help minimise machinery damage

Battery Isolation

A Battery Isolation feature automatically disconnects electrical power after system activation.

Electrical systems can continue to provide ignition sources even after a fire has been suppressed. Isolating the battery helps reduce the risk of electrical fires and reignition.

Benefits of Battery Isolation:

  • Cuts electrical power after fire suppression activation

  • Reduces the risk of electrical faults causing reignition

  • Improves machinery safety following a fire incident

  • Helps protect electrical components from further damage

Engine Shutdown

An Engine Shutdown system automatically stops the engine when the fire suppression system activates.

Shutting down the engine removes fuel and airflow sources that can contribute to fire growth. This helps limit fire spread and supports more effective suppression.

Benefits of Engine Shutdown:

  • Stops engine operation during fire suppression discharge

  • Helps reduce fire spread

  • Removes fuel sources that may intensify the fire

  • Supports safer emergency response procedures

Why Additional Fire Suppression Safety Features Matter

High risk machinery often operates in harsh environments with elevated temperatures, combustible materials and continuous workloads. Additional safety features provide another layer of protection by improving operator awareness and helping reduce the risk of fire escalation.

Combining these features with an automatic fire suppression system helps improve safety, minimise downtime and protect valuable equipment.

Protect your equipment with Fireward’s automatic fire suppression systems.
