MOBILE PLANT FIRE SUPPRESSION

We recently installed a mobile plant automatic fire suppression system to this T60-9S telehandler, providing reliable fire protection for machinery operating across a variety of industries.

Telehandlers are widely used in construction, agriculture, waste handling and industrial applications, making mobile plant fire suppression an important safeguard against costly machinery fires.

Additional Safety Features

Manual Actuator – Allows operators to manually activate the fire suppression system in the event of an emergency.

In-Cab Monitor – Provides the operator with real-time system status information and immediate alerts if a fire is detected or the fire suppression system is activated.

Why Does Mobile Plant Need Fire Suppression?

Telehandlers and other mobile plant machinery operate in high fire-risk environments. Here are the most common causes of ignition:

  • Overheating engine components (DPF, turbo, exhaust manifolds)

  • Fuel or hydraulic fluid leaks

  • Electrical faults and high-current cabling

  • Battery faults and poor isolation

  • Dust and debris build-up

Dual Agent Fire Suppression Installation on a T60-9S Telehandler

This T60-9S telehandler uses dual agent as the suppression method. Dry powder provides rapid flame knockdown, while the delayed release of wet chemical cools hot surfaces and helps prevent reignition. The images below show how mobile plant fire suppression equipment is physically installed and positioned on a T60-9S telehandler to protect the highest fire-risk areas of the machine.

Fire Risk Across Multiple Industries

Telehandlers are used in a wide range of industries and are often required to operate for long periods in demanding environments. Whether handling materials on construction sites, moving agricultural products, supporting industrial operations or working within waste facilities, telehandlers are exposed to heat, dust, debris and heavy workloads. Engine compartments, hydraulic systems and electrical components can all become potential ignition sources if faults occur. Effective mobile plant fire suppression helps minimise risk and keeps equipment operational across a variety of applications.

Automatic Fire Protection for Mobile Plant

Installing dedicated fire suppression equipment on machines such as this T60-9S telehandler provides immediate protection where the risk is highest. Automatic detection and rapid suppression reduce the chance of severe damage, costly downtime and danger to operators. For businesses operating heavy machinery daily, working with experienced fire suppression system suppliers helps ensure mobile plant remains protected, compliant and ready for continuous operation.
